When Buster Sports asked The Republik to create a new website with a fully functional social network for their members, and management for their exclusive content on a tight time line, The Republik said, "No Problem". They know they could rely on Thirdparty Labs to deliver the technical goods.

Given less than a month to go from zero to production, there was no room for error. We worked in lockstep with the incredibly talented designers at The Republik from square one, and coordinated with Buster Sports' technical staff to ensure a smooth launch in their dedicated hosting environment.

Thirdparty Labs chose the KickApps platform for the site's social features, and used KickApps' API to integrate tightly with the custom Carbon content management system that we built to manage all of Buster's exclusive content.

Features of the system we built for Buster include:

  • CMS modules for NCAA conferences, schools, and sports. These are used to organize content items throughout the site and on the KickApps platform
  • Content contributor profiles for Buster's expert sports commentators
  • Management for multiple podcasts, with iTunes Music Store integration
  • Targetspot integration for interstitial ads in podcasts, content managers can insert ads at specific times in podcasts
  • Multiple blogs for various content contributors

...we asked for a fully functional social networking site where users could upload and share videos, photos, podcasts on message boards for 65 different college sports teams - in less than three weeks - including time for us to design the darn thing. Did Rob shake his head and say, "No way. Can't be done?"
Of course not. "Can't" is simply not in Rob's vocabulary.
